Sustainability

HUB Footwear was founded with the vision of making sophisticated sneakers at a competitive price point. We’re aware of the social responsibility we have as a brand and we are committed in making our products with respect for people and our planet. We have a marked corporate social responsibility as a key value in our business model. Further, within our supply chain we sought  business partners that shared the same corporate values. What does this mean for you? It enables us to present you a sense of guilt free consumerism.

Production and working conditions

Our shoes are manufactured in factories located in Taiwan, Vietnam and Portugal. In order to ensure healthy working conditions at these factories, we have set up a HUB Code of Conduct. This Code of Conduct contains all our guidelines regarding forced labor, child labor, harassment, abuse and discrimination, working conditions and environment and has duly been signed by all the factories we are in partnership with and these agreements are renewed annually. See appendix A for the contents of the code of conduct.

Production and sustainability

Our corporate social responsibility goes further than only the working conditions. With regards to the area of sustainability, the following topics are  covered in our supply chain. The factories we incorporate all have a program installed to reduce carbon emissions and lower their CO2 footprint. As an example, the factories select local suppliers to reduce transport emissions. Our factories guarantee that our products do not contain any harmful substances. Our products are ZDHC, Chromium VI and REACH chemicals free. Our leather suppliers only contract professionals that ensure  the management of wastewater and operate a standardized procedure of boiler operation wastewater treatment, fur and powder administration in place. Our shoeboxes are made of 100% recycled paper.

Environment and social awareness

We have set-up a policy in order to create and maintain environmental awareness. At the HUB HQ, waste is carefully separated. Paper, plastic, glass, batteries and household waste are collected separately. All HUB employees are encouraged to enjoy a social lifestyle involving sport and are representative of the HUB core customer profile.

The SC Code is used as a tool to assist HUB Footwear in selecting and retaining Business Partners (as defined below) who follow business practices consistent with our policies and values. As a set of guiding principles, the SC Code also helps identify potential problems so that we can work with our Business Partners to address issues as they arise. By way of example, Business Partners will develop and implement action plans for continuous improvement in factory working conditions. Progress of these and related plans will be monitored by the Business Partners themselves, HUB Footwears’ internal monitoring team, and external independent monitors. Additionally, HUB Footwear and external independent monitors will conduct announced and unannounced audits of suppliers to evaluate supplier compliance with the SC Code’s standards and business practices. HUB Footwear also has a broad social compliance-training program in place that covers the topics of human trafficking and slavery, particularly with respect to mitigating risks within the supply chains of products. As HUB Footwear evolves its business model in sourcing and manufacturing, we intend to work with Business Partners that understand that meeting these minimum standards is a critical baseline from which manufacturing leadership, continuous improvement, and self-governance must evolve. Beyond this SC Code, HUB Footwear is committed to collaborating with Business Partners to help build a leaner, greener, more empowered and equitable supply chain.
